Review Policy

Who can review a venue, what is allowed, how venues reply and how reviews are reported and moderated.

Draft for legal review — not yet approved by counsel. Version 0.1-draft · 2026-10-23. Text in [square brackets] is a placeholder the owner must fill in.

Verified reviews only

Only an organiser with a confirmed VenueScout booking at a venue can review it, and only once. Every review shows that it is verified. We do not accept anonymous reviews or reviews from people without a booking.

What a review should be

Describe your own event honestly: value, AV and technology, catering, staff and location. Keep to what happened. Do not include other people's personal data, threats or discriminatory language.

Right of reply

The venue can reply publicly to a review from its console. The reply is shown under the review. Venues may not remove reviews and may not offer rewards for them.

Reporting a review

Any signed-in user can report a review using the Report button next to it. One report per person per review. Reports go to our moderation queue.

Moderation grounds

We hide a review only when it:

  • is abusive, threatening or discriminatory;
  • has a conflict of interest (for example written by the venue, a competitor or an associate);
  • is off-topic or not about the event;
  • is shown not to come from a real event;
  • discloses personal data without a lawful reason.

We do not hide a review because it is negative. Each decision by our team is recorded in an audit log. A reviewer or venue who disagrees can write to [Review appeals contact — to be confirmed].
